As many as 1 in 20 patients with a cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) develops an infection within three years of implantation. Gaps and delays in recommended care for CIED infections are all too common and can lead to preventable illness, disability, and death. Join Drs. Kevin Kwaku, Timothy Kamerzell, Cynthia Dougherty, and DJ Lakkireddy for a panel discussion as we explore this topic from a health equity lens. Our discussion will cover structural and systematic barriers to timely identification, referral, and treatment, as well as approaches to promote equitable care.
